Explanation
Linoleic acid, the main representative of omega-6, is a so-called essential fatty acid: the body cannot synthesize it itself and must obtain it through diet, notably via sunflower, corn, and grapeseed oils, as well as nuts (walnuts, almonds). ANSES sets the adequate intake at 4% of total energy intake, a reference expressed as a percentage rather than a fixed number of grams because the actual need depends directly on daily energy consumption: for a 2,000 kcal diet, this represents about 8.9 g, versus 11.1 g for 2,500 kcal.
